Driver Policy

What to expect driving with RelaxRide — from applying, through your first weeks, to how pay and sign-in work day to day. Read this alongside our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

1 Applying to drive with us

To apply, you'll need: your vehicle's type and registration, your PHV driver licence details, the expiry dates of your PHV driver licence, hire & reward insurance, MOT and PHV vehicle licence, a right-to-work share code, your DBS certificate number and issue date, your bank details for payouts, and your general availability.

A manager reviews every application before approving it — we don't onboard drivers automatically. Once approved, you'll be given a unique PIN to sign in to the Driver Portal.

2 Your trial period

Every new driver starts on a trial period, shown as "On trial" in our system. You come off trial once you've completed 20 jobs and been with us for at least 30 days — whichever takes longer. This isn't a test you can fail; it's simply how long it takes us to have a fair, representative picture of how a working relationship is going, for both sides.

You can take jobs from day one of your trial — there's no reduced access while you're on trial, and no separate approval needed to keep accepting work.

3 Keeping your documents current

The expiry dates you give us at sign-up are checked by a manager against your actual documents before you're confirmed on the roster. If any of your documents — PHV driver licence, insurance, MOT, or PHV vehicle licence — expire, you won't be able to accept new jobs until you send us the renewed document and a manager has confirmed the new date. This isn't optional or something we can wave through: it protects your own cover as much as our licence.

If a document is due to expire soon, tell us in advance so there's no gap in your ability to work.

4 Right to work & background check

We keep a record of your right-to-work share code and DBS certificate details on file, confirmed by a manager, the same way we handle your other documents. You can get a free right-to-work share code at gov.uk/prove-right-to-work.

5 Refer a driver

Know someone who'd be a good fit? Share your personal link from the Driver Portal. You'll earn £30 the first time a driver you referred completes their own trial period (see §2), and a further £100 bonus for every 5 drivers you've successfully referred in total.

To count, a referral needs to be a genuinely new driver — the same phone number, email address, or vehicle registration as yours won't qualify. Rewards are paid automatically as part of your normal payout once earned, clearly itemised as a referral reward rather than folded into your job pay.

6 Signing in securely

You sign in with your mobile number and your 4-digit PIN — both are needed, so keep your PIN private the same way you would a bank card PIN. Your PIN is generated for you when your account is created; you can't choose your own, and neither can we, which keeps every driver's PIN genuinely unpredictable.

If you think someone else knows your PIN, tell us straight away and we'll issue you a new one.

7 Pay & payouts

Your agreed pay per job, and any referral reward you've earned, are paid out on our normal weekly payout cycle — either directly to your bank account or automatically if you've connected a Stripe account. You can download a statement of your completed jobs and pay at any time from the Driver Portal.

8 Your data

Your own "Your earnings" history shows passenger pickup/drop-off detail for the last 60 days of completed jobs, for passenger privacy — older jobs drop that detail from the list, though your running totals always stay accurate and complete. A job that's still unpaid or under query is never hidden, however old, so you can always see what a payment relates to. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on how we handle your data.
